The Farm Camp Team!

Farm camp staff is caring, dedicated and fun!  The camp staff shares their farm energy, enthusiasm and knowledge with everyone who comes to the camp.  Our farm camp team staff is carefully selected, it consists of adults, university, college and high school students who have specific qualities and experience working with children and youth.

The farm camp staff is committed to delivering an excellent and safe program.   As we are a working farm site safety practices are always a very large consideration for our team.  Each activity of the camp is carefully reviewed with safety as the key component for consideration.   We believe that a working farm is the most effective way to develop meaningful understanding of agricultural and natural resources.  At Everdale we strive to maximize educational opportunities through activities that involve direct contact with soils, plants and animals.  All products raised on the farm are raised for food.

Farmer Liz & Smudge

Liz began working with Everdale in 2008 on a project to develop community education programs. Last spring she returned to Everdale to lead the first season of Farm Camp.  Liz comes to Farm Camp with an impressive background in developing education programs for children and youth. She has worked with such non-projfit organizations as The Tim Hortons Children Foundation and Project CANOE. She holds two degrees, a Bachelor of Recreation Management from Acadia University in Nova Scotia and a Bachelor of Education from Trent University in Peterborough. Liz aims to inspire imagination and creativity in each of our campers.  Liz’s life-long commitment to environmental and agricultural education has been of great asset to her Direction of Farm Camp.  Liz really enjoys goats, making ice cream and brushing the donkeys.

Farmer Matt

Matt began working with Everdale in 2010 to lead the first season of Farm Camp.  He joins Everdale with a host of experiences teaching young people in the outdoors. Previous to his Direction of Farm Camp he lead and managed programs with well known organizations such as Outward Bound Canada and Camp Oochigeas. Matt has two degrees, a Bachelor of Kinesiology from York University in Toronto and a Bachelor of Education from Trent University in Peterborough. He believes that we learn best when given the chance to run freely – exploring with the environment around us and getting our hands dirty! Matt’s depth of expertise in experiential education and wilderness guiding has greatly enriched the program development of Farm Camp.  Matt loves red wiggler worms, growing beets and spending time with ‘Gramps’ the sheep.
